About

I have bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism and have worked covering a wide variety of beats in my career. I’m a graduate of the Public Affairs Reporting program at the University of Illinois Springfield, where I spent my internship covering state government and politics in the Illinois Capitol for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

At the Norwich Bulletin in Connecticut, I covered gaming and the effects of being home to (at the time) the world’s two largest casinos.  I moved on to local government and higher education in Lafayette, Indiana, at the Journal & Courier. I also served as digital editor at the Rockford Register Star, managing a department that spearheaded our social media, online content and special digital projects.

Between my time at the Journal & Courier and Register Star, I spend more than four years as a science research writer at Purdue University. I publicized the research findings of faculty in the College of Agriculture through news releases, museum exhibits features in the college’s magazine, Agricultures, and a science cafe program.

These days, I’m a stay-at-home dad with two of my children, and I’m home when my oldest gets off the bus in the afternoon. With all my free time (that’s a joke) I freelance, with work recently featured in Seed World and the Register Star.

Here is a copy of my resume. If you like what you see, shoot me an email.
